C venues announces iconic new flagship venue at Edinburgh landmark, Saint Stephen’s Stockbridge
One of the most iconic Georgian buildings in Edinburgh, Saint Stephen’s Stockbridge is set to be a major new venue for C venues. The A-listed building, which dates back to the 1820s, has occupied a special place on the Fringe for over 27 years and has been operated by leading arts organisations such at the Traverse, Aurora Nova and Northern Stage. C venues continues this tradition of first-class work and is bringing an ambitious programme to the historic building. With a packed programme full of unforgettable shows, Saint Stephen’s Stockbridge will be the perfect venue to witness the best that the Edinburgh Fringe has to offer.
With a range of performance spaces, including a 450 capacity main theatre, C venues at Saint Stephen’s will offer participants the opportunity to perform in a spectacular setting, centrally located and with the building’s 50m clock tower visible from miles away. The first-class acoustics in these well-equipped spaces have made the venue a popular destination for music and theatre alike. From intimate drama and cabaret to large-scale musicals, circus and physical theatre, C venues at Saint Stephen’s Stockbridge is the ideal venue for unmissable shows. With must-see shows in a memorable building, C’s new flagship New Town venue promises to be the most talked about venue at the 2016 Edinburgh Fringe.
C venues introduces a programme of pay what you think shows at C soco at ibis
New for 2016, in the courtyard surroundings of the ibis South Bridge, we offer audiences and performers ‘pay what you think’: a new initiative to support artists and audiences alike. Participants wanting to be part of the world’s greatest arts festival can perform in the heart of Edinburgh, just off the Royal Mile, as part of the C venues programme without breaking the bank. Performances are unticketed and audiences are invited to give an appropriate donation at the end of the performance.
